Turkish export suffers serious damage from border blockage

Crisis in the relations between Bulgaria and Turkey on the occasion of the commercial cargo across the border has caused damage to Turkish export bound for Europe. Blocking border checkpoint Kapıkule – the border passing point for the majority of Turkish exports to Europe, deprives Turkish business of approximately 1,000 cargo trucks daily crossing the border and continuing for their destinations.

This information has been given by the CEO of the Turkish Automobile Association Fatih Sener, who calls on both parties' urgent mutual consensus for normalizing transport through Turkish- Bulgarian border.

According to Sener Fatih Turkey and Bulgaria have so far provided each other’s cargo trucks with transport permits, but currently the case is a “threat, blackmail" exercised by the Bulgarian side.
